Yesterday I added a new app in the Control Panel for Wordpress 3.4.1.

At that point, a "1-click installer" wasn't available for Wordpress 3.4.2.

Today, Wordpress 3.4.1 is showing "INSECURE" in the control panel, even though I've upgraded to 3.4.2 inside wordpress itself.

Is this just the way it is or am I supposed to "upgrade" Wordpress using the control panel rather than inside wordpress itself? Will the Control Panel will ALWAYS show Wordpress as v3.4.1 INSECURE?

The Control Panel does not verify if a Wordpress site has been updated. When a new security update is released, which was done with 3.4.2, then the old version is marked insecure. The expectation is to update wordpress through their update mechanism and not install a new version.

This will result in your Wordpress showing as Insecure in the Control Panel as expected, but is not a concern as you updated it via Wordpress.
