The static IP thing shown with the new pricing plan made me wonder as well... doesn't the machine have a static ip anyways? how else would i be able to point A records of my domains to the corresponding Webfaction webserver?

You do not need to have your own dedicated IP address. You will need one if you decide to use your own SSL certificate. It is required if you want to use your own SSL certificate and it costs $5/month. If you want to use WebFaction's SSL certificate, you do not need a dedicated IP and there is no additional charge.

The problem with using WebFaction's SSL certificate is that most browsers will report a warning that the certificate and domain do not match.

In regards to mbrochh, yes, the serve has a static IP address. It does not change.
