I have a .it domain with godaddy, i wish to set the nameservers for that domain to be webfaction's so i can use it in my django application.

i tried doing that but it failed, i mailed godaddy and they replied: " As for not being able to point the domain's nameservers to specific nameservers they would fail if the hosting has not designated the nameservers within the zone file for the domain on there system as is required by the .it Registry. "

So... do webfaction handles .it domains?

Thanks, yogi.

Yes, we handle .it domains.

Usually this type of problem means that you haven't added the domain to our control panel (which is what creates the zone files on our NS).

So, add the domain to your account in the control panel (here), wait a few minutes, and then try setting your NS with your registrar again.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then please open a support ticket. Thanks!
