WebFaction
Community site: login faq

Hello,

I want to upload a website to WebFaction. I'm using FileZilla and the remote site looks like "/home/username/folder." I want the content to appear under the heading [my domain name] rather than under "username" . How do I do this?

Every user has a home directory which is located in,

/home

When you log in with FTP or SSH the default directory is your home directory. In your home directory is a series of other directories, this is what they are for,

~/webapps = Control panel applications
~/lib = linux libraries you may build
~/bin = linux binaries you may build
~/logs = Server logs

On our platform each application is given its own directory in 'webapps'. If you want to use another directory instead you may with a 'Symbolic link' type application, and it will create a symbolic link to any other directory in your home in 'webapps'.

If you want another user to access the application you must create a second user and assign them permissions to access your home directory.
