I notice that the 1.9.3 install (at least on web210) is the relatively aged 1.9.3p125, from 16 Feb 2012. It's great that we're up to date on Rails (with 3.2.11), but having a Ruby version with known problems should temper everyone's enthusiasm.

I ask this in part because we have a couple of Gems I'm using for a project I might deploy here that will flatly refuse to run on anything earlier than p362 (2012-12-25), which is what we were using on our internal systems prior to today.

Thanks.

I'll open a ticket for our sysadmins to look into updating our Ruby 1.9.3 installations, but I can't say when or if that will happen. If you need a newer version of Ruby immediately, then you'll need to build it yourself in your home directory and configure your apps to use it. There's a slightly-older rvm example that might do the trick.

Sean, I want to use a newer version without using rvm. Are there any guides around for configuring my rails app to use a newer ruby version?

Using the above linked guide you can install the latest version, you just need to edit the version numbers in the commands.
