I have an app listening on a custom port which WF have provided a static IP for, it's possible to forward my domain to that IP but I still have to do this: http://example.com:12345. Is it possible to forward traffic from port 80 at http://example.com to 12.34.56.78:12345

You'll need to do two things:

  • Point example.com at 12.34.56.78
  • Add your 'custom app listening on port' application to a website record that uses example.com

Once you've done that, our front-end Nginx server will send requests for http://example.com/ to your port.

(1) I'm pointing http://example.com to an External (A Record) 12.34.56.78, (the IP that WF provied). (2) In Websites, I have the 'custom app listening on port' pointed to http://example.com. Going to http://example.com:12345 works but http://example.com shows "Site not configured".

You also need to have the website record assigned to 12.34.56.78.

If you think you've done all of that correctly and things still aren't working as you expect, then feel free to open a support ticket with the specifics and we'll take a closer look.

I'm not sure how I assign the website record to the IP.

Hi,

When you create a Web site you'll see the IP address that it will appear on, just change that drop down to the other IP address.

I do not see any dropdown in the add website box.

Ok, that should be fixed now (we had opened your port on the secondary IP, but had not linked the secondary IP to your account record).
