Does the PHP code that serves a Wordpress request ultimately execute as me (i.e., if I log in to the server as username, PHP executes with username's effective uid/gid), or as the system-wide apache user? I'm looking at the WP Codex's Hardening WordPress guide, and knowing whose privileges WP executes with would help me figure out how to apply their suggestions to my installation.

Thanks.

PHP processes all execute under your user (and not, for example, as "nobody" or "apache"). So any files owned by your user would be accessible to PHP.
