Hi, I am trying to automate my postgresql database backup.

I follow the instructions found here:

After a while I looked at the ~/db_backups/cron.log and see an error has been occurring...

Password:
pg_dump: [archiver (db)] connection to database "my_database_name" failed: fe_sendauth: no password supplied

I did create the .pgpass file and update it's permissions and everything.

Can anyone help?

The example in our documentation is incorrect. The correct format for .pgpass is:

*:*:database_name:database_user:password

Please ensure that your .pgpass is using the format I've described here. We'll have the documentation updated soon.

Hope that helps!
