Hi,

I use to be heroku user, I'm used to just push my changes directly to the server without having to pull and merge every time I got an update. I'm not sure I got the documentation correct or not, but having looked at:

http://docs.webfaction.com/software/git.html

http://community.webfaction.com/questions/1246/using-git-with-applications

I'm still a bit confused :(

The workflow I'm assuming is:

I do some changes to my local git.

I git push my changes and my changes are live. (just like how heroku works git push heroku master and thats it)

P.S. this is by no mean a comparison between webfaction and heroku.

It would be helpful if you could be a bit more specific regarding what you find confusing.

The first doc you mentioned covers how to host a git repository with WebFaction.

The second doc you mentioned covers how to do a post-receive hook to deploy your code to your site.

Which of those are you having trouble with, and what sort of trouble are you having?

If you want your changes to go live following a git push, then you need to create a post-receive hook to do that for you.

The second document that you mentioned, "Using git with applications", has the information you need in the upvoted answer by "ryans".

Hope that helps!
