Hi .. I'm looking to buy an SSL cert so that I can use SSL without a browser warning. I read here that most of the time it's not necessary to have a static IP to host your own SSL cert: http://docs.webfaction.com/user-guide/websites.html#websites-secure-sites However, all the options here say that I need one: http://www.namecheap.com/ssl-certificates/comodo/comodo-ev-ssl-certificate.aspx Is this because this is a cheaper service, or will it work to use SNI with these certs even though it says you need a static IP? Thanks asked 09 May '13, 23:52 statesmade |
It will work with SNI. We can install any Of course, there are some browsers that don't support SNI, so this is the main reason that most sources still suggest that a dedicated IP is required. But SNI works well for the majority of our clients and is what we would recommend unless you explicitly need legacy support. answered 10 May '13, 00:27 ryans ♦♦ |
