Here's the thing. I've set up my Google Apps account and wanted to make a unified gmail inbox for all my webfaction email addresses. I managed to make it work for several adresses, just by changing MX records. And that worked fine. But there is an email address in a domain that not only I am using:
So I can't change MX records for thedomain.com like I did with all the other domains. I tried veryfing my_name@thedomain.com without changing records and I don't get any verification emails. Instead, I get Delivery Status Notification (Failure) with:
Any idea how to make it work? asked 25 May '13, 09:06 pawelkadysz |
Unfortunately you cannot have that setup using MX records - you cannot "split" the email traffic of a domain name based on the recipient's address. Our servers will let you send email under the thedomain.com domain name, after proper authentication, but you will still need to deliver the email for someone-else@thedomain.com to us, WebFaction, and my-name@thedomain.com to GMail. One alternative is to use Mail Fetcher: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/21289?hl=en to pull email from external email addresses to GMail. That means our servers will still handle your email, and GMail will act as an "email program" in this case. Sincerely, Valentin I. answered 25 May '13, 10:59 valentini |
