WebFaction
Community site: login faq

Hi all,

It seems like a minor thing, but I'm currently setting up a Paypal payment system for something and it recommends that the custom logos I use on the payment form be stored on a secure site (https) or the Paypal form will show as some elements on it being unsecured.

Is it reasonably easy to set up a special images folder on my site as secure, or do I have to set the entire site as secure in the WebFaction control panel? All the SSL certificate stuff seems like too much gun just to have a special logo on a single Paypal page.

There's no way to just have a special folder that serves HTTPS. The fundamental nature of how HTTPS works is that it requires SSL public-key authentication, and that requires a certificate. So, yes, you'll need to create an HTTPS version of your site, have a certificate installed, etc - there's no way around that.

OK -- I thought it was worth checking. Thanks for the prompt reply.
