Hi, I just started using Webfaction, it is great. The current version of gcc on my server is 4.4.7, I was wondering if there was any plan to update the version to 4.8.1, which I believe is the latest release from GNU. I tried to build this from source in my home directory, but there are quite some dependencies, so I was just wondering if this was on the horizon any time soon. I mainly wanted to use 4.8.1 because more C++11 features are supported.

Thanks -David

We provide the versions of GCC which are maintained by the opera1ting system; for CentOS 5 that's 4.1, and for CentOS 6 that's 4.4 .

I've written some guides for GCC 4.6 and 4.8:

Hope that helps!
