Dear WebFaction Community,

Since we can't do $ sudo , is there documentation about how to install Linux applications that are not in the WebFaction List?

Thanks for the great service.

Love and peace,

Joe

Dear WebFaction Community,

Thanks for the GREAT Community.

I did some research on this subject and came up with the items below.

Check these links out:

I also found this stuff useful for Python Packages:

See below my signature for the un-versioned app names that I found in the Application Types list (useable with the WebFaction API). Notice (non-specific app type).

Another App Class & a Question

It seems to me that a Standard Class of Linux Apps, those using RPM or Ubuntu-Debian "apt-get install" or Linux Standard Base installation packages, are not covered in the WebFaction installation documentation.

Question, is there general WebFaction documentation for how install them?

Answer, by Tim G. of WebFaction Support from a ticket I opened asking the question:

The best way to install software is from source, here is how: http://docs.webfaction.com/software/home-install.html?highlight=source#installing-software-from-source

Thanks, Tim G. and Christopher S. of WebFaction Support for helping me finalize this information.

Thanks again to WebFaction for a GREAT service and a GREAT community.

Love and peace,

Joe

Dear Christopher, Thanks for your kind comment and suggestion. I have one more question. I can't seem to find any documentation re installing symlink or symlink_static_only app types. If you or someone else could point me in the right direction, I'll add it to the above. Thanks again, Christopher. Love and peace, -Joe
