If so did you install and use cmake or manage to do it all manually with configure, make and make install?

I'd love to see a recipe for this.

I was unable to get it to build, since linuxPAM fails, despite the correct library being built. You may want to contact the linuxPAM maintainers to see if you can get past that. If so it may work. It is designed to run as root however(install as root, run as a special user with special perms, and start/stop/etc with root), so even if you get it to work you will need extensive configuration to make it operate in a user account. There is no easy path and if you are dedicated you will need to read all of their configuration documentation to finish.
