The following will build the binaries and get you to step 1.4 of their 'building on linux' guide

# set vars
export CPPFLAGS="-I$HOME/include $CPPFLAGS"
export LDFLAGS="-L$HOME/lib $LDFLAGS"
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
echo "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" >> $HOME/.bash_profile

# make directory for all the source
mkdir ~/src

# build curl
cd ~/src
wget http://curl.haxx.se/download/curl-7.21.4.tar.gz
tar -xvf curl-7.21.4.tar.gz
cd curl-7.21.4
./configure --prefix=$HOME && make && make install

# build libevent
cd ~/src
wget https://github.com/downloads/libevent/libevent/libevent-2.0.19-stable.tar.gz --no-check-certificate
tar -xvf libevent-2.0.19-stable.tar.gz
cd libevent-2.0.19-stable
./configure --prefix=$HOME  && make && make install

# build erlang
cd ~/src
wget http://www.erlang.org/download/otp_src_R14B03.tar.gz
tar -xvf otp_src_R14B03.tar.gz
cd otp_src_R14B03
./configure --prefix=$HOME --disable-option-checking 'CFLAGS=-O2 -g ' 'CXXFLAGS=-O2 -g ' --cache-file=/dev/null --srcdir=.
make
make install

# build snappy
cd ~/src
git clone https://github.com/google/snappy
cd snappy/
/autogen.sh
./configure --prefix=$HOME
make
make install

#build V8
cd ~/src
svn checkout http://v8.googlecode.com/svn/branches/3.7/ v8-read-only
cd v8-read-only
make dependencies
make x64 werror=no strictaliasing=off library=shared
cp out/x64.release/lib.target/libv8.so ~/lib/
cp include/* ~/include/

# build couchbase
cd ~/src
wget http://packages.couchbase.com/releases/2.0.1/couchbase-server_src-2.0.1.tar.gz
tar -xf couchbase-server_src-2.0.1.tar.gz
