Hello folks.

I'd like to activate mod_pagespeed, but only for one specific filter: re-compressing images. I'm serving static content via a separate static/cgi app (so via the main apache, not my own).

I've tried experimenting on my own "staging" virtualbox, but I can't seem to find my way in the jungle of settings that actually gets things working at all, so I figured I ask before trying on a live server....

Basically, this seems to be one way to do it: In my .htaccess in the top level directory where I serve static files, add this to disable all the core filters:

ModPagespeedRewriteLevel PassThrough

...and then enable just the filter I want with;

ModPagespeedEnableFilters recompress_images

Would that work? Do I need to set ModPagespeed on first? Is that filter available?

This directives can be used within the .htaccess context. However we do not have that filter installed as discussed in this thread.
