Hey there i'm using these settings in my django settings.py file .

EMAIL_USE_TLS = True
EMAIL_HOST = 'smtp.gmail.com'
EMAIL_HOST_USER = 'something@gmail.com'
EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = 'something'
EMAIL_PORT = 587

The email is sent on the development server but it isnt working on the webfaction's apache server. Any clues as to why this is happening? Moreover on the docs for configuring emails using django they always use the webfaction's smtp server , are other servers not compatile with webfaction?

Those settings should work with no problem on WebFaction's service.

Did you restart your Apache instance to ensure that your new email settings were activated?

Do you see any kind of error when you attempt to send mail from your site?
