I just made a default install of Drupal 7.27, created a new content type with a File Field with Upload Progress enabled (the Status Report shows upload progress as enabled via PECL), however the upload progress JSON only ever returns "Starting Upload..." and a percentage of -1

Have I missed something obvious or is there an issue with OOTB upload progress? If so can anyone recommend a solution for Drupal 7?

Thanks in advance.

Drupal's upload progress support requires that PHP be served via mod_php. Our servers use php-cgi, so upload progress won't work.

To work around this, you can build your own Apache and PHP from source as a custom app, and then configure it to serve your Drupal app via mod_php.

Ok, seems like that might be beyond my skills at the moment as I can't find any guides/scripts.
