The server timezone is set as UTC, as shown by "date"

$ date
Wed May 14 14:33:17 UTC 2014

I have a cron job scheduled like this:

0 7 * * * /.../myscript.sh

This should run at 0700 UTC daily (middle of the night US/Chicago). However, I am getting the email confirmation at 8:00AM US/Chicago, which is 1300 UTC.

Is there somewhere I can set (or even verify) the timezone used by cron?

You can verify the time zone used by cron by adding a cron job that runs the "date" command, eg:

0 7 * * * date

For the record, cron runs in UTC on our servers.

You might try inspecting the headers of the message you're receiving to try to determine why it is being delayed.

I inspected the headers and opened support ticket VUF-842727. Thanks for confirming that things should be running in UTC.

After opening a support ticket, and being told "All our servers are using UTC." This problem magically fixed itself. Thanks.
