The XML-RPC API is an interface to allow you to interact with the WebFaction Control Panel from a script. So, no - reading from a file doesn't seem to be related to the Control Panel.

Can you describe what you're specifically trying to do? Normally you would read the file in whichever language you're writing the API script, and then use the API to perform logic based on the contents of that file.

You can use the API system method to run "cat /home/username/myfile.txt" or whatever, but it looks like the return value is limited to 450 characters.

I think i'll make a script to perform the actions and call it using the api method 'system'.
