WebFaction
Community site: login faq

I would like to create a Wordpress blog on the root domain but have a Django app on a subdirectory.

  • www.example.com (Wordpress)
  • www.example.com/store (Django)

I DO NOT want to use a subdomain (store.example.com). I also DO NOT want this setup:

  • www.example.com (Static site)
  • www.example.com/blog (Wordpress)
  • www.example.com/store (Django)

When I try to set this up by creating the Wordpress website first at /, I get an error while creating the Django website:

http://www.example.com is already used in sites with the same IP address - you need to edit the existing site record first.

I get that error even though I'm mounting the Django app on the path /store. Is what I'm trying to do possible with Webfaction?

You need to do this with a single website record. Edit the WordPress website record, and add the Django app at /store.
