Hi There.

The ting is, I have one Apache instance serving 4 django sites. For some reason I see a large delay when trying to access each of the sites for the first time... from 3-10 secs.

Afterwards the responsetime is as would be expected.

This is my conf: (with username and portnumber removed)

ServerRoot "/home/<user>/webapps/server/apache2"

LoadModule alias_module modules/mod_alias.so
LoadModule dir_module modules/mod_dir.so
LoadModule env_module modules/mod_env.so
LoadModule log_config_module modules/mod_log_config.so
LoadModule mime_module modules/mod_mime.so
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
LoadModule setenvif_module modules/mod_setenvif.so
LoadModule wsgi_module modules/mod_wsgi.so

LogFormat "%{X-Forwarded-For}i %l %u %t "%r" %>s %b "%{Referer}i" "%{User-Agent}i"" combined
CustomLog /home/<user>/logs/user/access_server.log combined
KeepAlive Off
Listen XXXXX
MaxSpareThreads 2
MinSpareThreads 1
ServerLimit 1
SetEnvIf X-Forwarded-SSL on HTTPS=1
ThreadsPerChild 3

WSGIPythonPath /home/<user>/webapps/server:/home/<user>/lib/python2.7

NameVirtualHost *:XXXXX

(4 virtual hosts:)
VirtualHost :XXXXX
ServerName webloftet.dk
ServerAlias
.webloftet.dk
WSGIDaemonProcess webloftet processes=1 python-path=/home/<user>/webapps/server:/home/<user>/lib/python2.7 threads=1
WSGIProcessGroup webloftet
WSGIScriptAlias / /home/<user>/webapps/server/apps/webloftet/django.wsgi
alias /media "/home/<user>/webapps/webloftet_media/webloftet/"
alias /admin_media "/home/<user>/lib/python2.7/Django-1.2.4-py2.7.egg/django/contrib/admin/media/"
ErrorLog /home/<user>/logs/user/error_server.log
/VirtualHost

(3 more virtual hosts with the same setup but different parameters. )

Can you, from this setup, tell me what I'm doing wrong??

thanks.

regards.

Pete

Does the delay appear when you are using a stock Django installation from the Control Panel? Does it still happen when you use a blank vhost in your custom configuration with the default Django welcome page (i.e. with no apps/urls installed)?

If the answer is no to both questions, then most likely the reason lies within the specific Django application(s) that you are running.

I'm interested to know if this problem was solved.

I'm seeing an initial delay of ? 3 seconds for a given file served from a local apache which is serving on the standard shared IP address and also on a dedicated IP address, but the latency only occurs on the dedicated IP address.

Any suggestions?
