WebFaction
Community site: login faq

As I'm writing client admin web pages using the Webfaction API, I'd like to know if the "web_server" result string can ever differ from the "machine" parameter of the "login" call? Please ignore the fact that "machine" is an optional parameter.

It appears if you login to a specific machine that machine must be your web server. If it were another host, you would log in to that one. Is that correct?

The web_server returned by the login method will always match the value of machine that you pass to the login method.

The idea is that if you have multiple hosting plans on a single account, you specify a machine when you log in to the API, and any operations you perform in that API session (create_app, etc) are performed on that machine.

Thanks, that's what the docs were implying, but not quite saying explicitly. Might be a good idea to clarify that relationship in the API manual.
