it seems port 22 of my machine is banned by GFW, so I'm not able to ssh into my machine. Is it possible to change the default port? BTW I could ssh into it if I use VPN.

You can't change the default SSH port (that's always going to be port 22), but you could open a port and create a tunnel so that you could connect via SSH to a different port. This is described here.

Once you've done that, you could then make an alias in $HOME/.ssh/config, which looks something like this:

Host wf
    HostName web123.webfaction.com
    Port 22000
    User foo

and then just "ssh wf", which will use the correct port and user from $HOME/.ssh/config to connect.
