I would like to use X-Sendfile however I am not sure how I could turn X-Sendfile to "on" on my webfaction account for my django based website?

mod_xsendfile is an apache module. Since our Django installer provides apache + mod_wsgi, you can simply build mod_xsendfile and include it in your apache instance.

The basic procedure is as follows:

  1. Download the apache source for the same version of apache your application is using
  2. Build this apache and install it into a temporary location
  3. Use the installed apache's apxs program to build mod_xsendfile.so
  4. Place mod_xsendfile.so into your Django apache's modules directory and load it in httpd.conf
  5. Delete the temporary apache installation

Christian Hill has written a detailed guide to installing and using mod_xsendfile with Apache on WebFaction, and if you have any specific questions, please feel free to let us know.
