2) Click on a user to edit
3) Click Grant permissions
4) Type directory to grant
5.1) Click Save
-- Success
5.2) Press enter key
-- Page reloads with only content being a JSON formatted error

I haven't been able to reproduce that issue in the control panel. What browser and operating system are you using when it occurs? What button is highlighted when you press enter in step 5.2?

Windows 8.1 Google Chrome Version 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit). There's a slight blue glow around the "grant access to" textbox I'm typing the path into and pressing enter there results in the error. Tabbing 4 times to cycle focus through "Read only" -> "Read/Write" -> "Cancel" -> "Save" then hitting enter is successful.

Thank you! I was testing it incorrectly. I see the problem now, and it has been reported to development. Sorry for the trouble!
