So I have several questions.

IT wants us to research how firewalls work. My school firewall blocks most vpns, but today I found that the VPN 'Hot spot shield' is able to be used on it. Hot spot shield uses port 443 or https to connect to a server. I'm wondering why then when I try to use port 443 for a ssh connection I am able to connect but not able to receive a response from the host server at home whilst connected to the wifi. Interestingly when I use port 80 I get a diffrent error. How does hotspot shield work and how would I be able to replicate that by setting up a proxy server at home / sash tunneling / any other method you know of.
