WebFaction
Community site: login faq

Hi, I'm trying to use the webfaction API but when calling login I get this annoying Error:

xmlrpclib.Fault: <fault 1:="" 'loginerror'="">

The python code is just copy & paste from the API tutorial:

>>> from xmlrpclib import ServerProxy
>>>
>>> wf_api = ServerProxy('https://api.webfaction.com/')
>>> session_id, account = wf_api.login(
... 'myusername',
... 'mypassword',
... 'web500',
... 2
... )

raise Fault(**self._stack[0])
xmlrpclib.Fault: <Fault 1: 'LoginError'>

Note: I checked the username and password several times.

So, What I'm doing wrong?

I know you've said you checked the password. but which password exactly?

I suspect that you might be using your SSH password for the API call, when instead you should be using your control panel password.

Right now It's the same password for both accounts.

I've tested your login using the information you provided in your support ticket, and based on the results I am fairly certain that the password that you are attempting to use is not correct.
