Adding new SFTP works fine, and I can access the home directory with no problems. But when I try to connect using plain FTP, I am given a "Login failed" error.

Although SFTP is, well, more secure, I have no choice here as I have to use a tool that only supports plain FTP connections.

Am I doing something entirely wrong or do new users aren't added as valid FTP login?

This is something we will need to bring to the attention to our sysadmins. I do have a workaround though. Create the user with shell access - I used "/bin/bash" instead of "No shell (sftp only)". The user with shell access was able to use plain FTP without difficulty.
