It traces to package_index.py file in setuptools. Sorry, I'm new to python, so what can be done? thanks.

I can verify the issue happens when I try it, but I am not sure why. Most of the time it has to do with the package itself and not the server, you might try installing another version with easy_install. I recommended you just install it manually,

[src]$ wget http://pycurl.sourceforge.net/download/pycurl-7.19.0.tar.gz

Thanks, pycurl needs libcurl 7.16.2 or above to compile. Managed it.

Anyway, saw this link regarding package problem:

http://svn.python.org/view/sandbox/trunk/setuptools/setuptools/package_index.py?r1=77903&r2=88792
