Hi,

I wondered if anyone might be able to give me a primer on using MySQL from the home directory. I don't have a lot of experience with MySQL. How do I get into the MySQL client (or monitor)? Will typing the command mysql be pointing to default instance of MySQL?

Can someone explain how I can setup a cron job so that if it ever shuts down it gets restarted?

Just some general advice for running MySQL from the home directory would be greatly appreciated. Are there any disadvantages, things I need to be aware of?

Many thanks.

are you not happy with current MySQL servers?

Unfortunately due to the 16 character limit it leaves me with only 4 characters to name my databases with. Even a shorter username would still leave me with too little characters to name all of my databases the way I would like. :(
