WebFaction
Community site: login faq

I have a domain with it's Nameservers pointing to Webfaction and an email address targeting the mailbox as well as forwarding to addresses at two other external domains.

So my Targets box looks something like this:

my_mailbox, user1@domain.com, user2@domain.com, user3@domain.com, user1@another-domain.com

I keep getting an Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender notice that lists the 'User unknown in virtual alias table' error for the domain.com addresses and am not sure if this is an error caused by Webfaction or the mail service of the external email address. Both external domains are hosted by and, have the Nameservers pointing to, Webfaction but their MX records are overridden.

Not sure where to start troubleshooting this. Any Clues?

Full error posted per request:

NOTE: Since originally posting I added two users from the offending domain -above post adjusted for clarity.

This error comes in two flavors - one where the recipient address is rejected and one where the sender address is rejected.

Could you post the whole error (blotting out any personal info, of course) ?

Do you have any '@domain.com' addresses defined in our control panel (not as the target, but as the domain of the email address itself)?

We can probably resolve this quite quickly if you open a support ticket to let us know the actual addresses involved.
