I am installing a form generator and have been unsuccessful in getting the PHP form generator up and running in my account. At issue, is this line in the apache2-mpm-peruser/conf/httpd.conf2 file

DocumentRoot /home/<myaccountname>/webapps/_

The software developer wants me to take out the "underscore" and "restart Apache". I don't know how to do either, nor am I comfortable with what he is saying to me. What do you recommend I do? The error I'm getting in the install process is:

Warning: include(/home/<myaccountname>/webapps/_/mfphp/MasterForm_config.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/<myaccountname>/webapps/mfphp/MasterForm_functions.php on line 20

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/<myaccountname>/webapps/_/mfphp/MasterForm_config.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/share/pear53') in /home/<myaccountname>/webapps/mfphp/MasterForm_functions.php on line 20

The shared apache server is not configurable in this way. You have no access to the shared apache's .conf files. You can only use .htaccess rules to do what you may need.

Those configurations are part of the platform and to change yours might break something else.

You are free however to install just about any variation of apache within your home directory and have complete control over it. We offer a script that can build the stack here,

However a better question might be why does the developer want you to edit the apache config and not simply fix the import in the code itself? That underscore should not be caused by a config in apache but the directory being called in the code. A more common sense solution is to look at the PHP and fix it, not to change the serverstack.
