Hi all,

is possible to install apache Solr in Webfaction and how I can configure it to be accessible from an application on the same shared account?

Is there a guide or an how-to to follow?

Thanks, Stefano

We do not have an official guide on installing Solr, but this forum thread should provide you with all the information that you need to get it running.

This thread is dead and I can't find a single piece of information on installing Apache Solr on Webfaction in the Webfaction documentation. I've tried following tutorials elsewhere and nothing seems to work. HELP!

You would start by installing a web-server which would serve it.

Tomcat is among the list of possible servers,

A thread to build Tomcat may be found here.

Once that was built you would follow the installation documentation (linked in the list of possible servers).

If you have specific questions start a new thread or send us a support ticket.

Solr is now a standalone product and does not provide a war file anymore to run with tomcat. Since installing Solr requires to be root, Solr cannot be installed in Webfaction.

Solr doesn't require root access.

I just downloaded the latest archive, 8.5.2, extract it to a webapps directory and I was able to start an instance using the bin/solr start command, as per its README file.
