We have a working static website using Django and hosted using webfaction. I want to clone the current website and host it under www.mywebsite/clone

I created the new directy clone and dumped all files from www.mywebsite.com, when I try to access www.mywebsite.com/clone it redirects to the mywebsite.com

What am I doing wrong? I am very new to both Django and Webfacton.

I'm not clear on what you mean by "a working static website using Django". Django is a dynamic framework, so I don't see why you would use it to serve a static site.

I think we'll be able to serve you better if you open a support ticket via the control panel so we can look at your actual setup. We're around 24/7, so feel free to do that at your earliest convenience.
