Hello, We purchased a server for our school to run OSQA. However when we try to install OSQA using the InstallScript (https://wiki.webfaction.com/wiki/InstallScripts#OSQA) it returns an error saying:

Error: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/var/tmp/api_system.40547", line 92, in ?
fn_mapper[action](api,app_name,db_name)
File "/var/tmp/api_system.40547", line 36, in create
app = api.create_app(app_name, 'django124_mw32_26')
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages/webfaction/api/__init__.py", line 30, in create_app
raise APIError(e.faultString)
webfaction.api.APIError: Error: "CentOS Linux release 6.0 (Final)
" servers are not supported.

It seems to be saying that it cannot install it on CentOS, but why would we have a CentOS server if it can't do the one thing we want it too!?

Update: The OSQA installer now works as expected on all servers.

Original Answer:

Yes; currently the API does not support our newest CentOS 6 servers, and since the OSQA installer uses the API, this error is generated. We have recently been made aware of this issue and our administrators are working on a solution. We hope to have it corrected in the near future. If you need to install OSQA right away, we can open an account for you on an older server and remove your existing server; this will allow you to use the install script immediately. Please open a support ticket and let us know if you are interested in this option.

Thanks, I will most likely do this. Is there anyway to manually install it? I did so on a local Ubuntu system, so I know the basics.

This guide used to be the de-facto guide to manual installation. The majority of the work is still done for you when you install a Django application via our one-click installers. After that, it's just a matter of initializing a database and installing the OSQA project into the Django instance.

That said, the process of removing your current server and adding a new one only takes about 10 minutes, assuming that all of the data on the original server can be removed and the new account can be created fresh. So, this is faster if you just want to use the script to get a site up and running as soon as possible.
