I'm trying to investigate why my web application written in the python framework Flask uses much memory. I am using python 2.7 for this app. When asking for help I recived the question of what UCS version the python interpreter has.

Can anyone help me with answering this?

Python is build with UCS2 on WebFaction. You can find the version by running the following:

[timg@web223 ~]$ python2.7
Python 2.7.1 (r271:86832, Dec  1 2010, 06:29:57)
[GCC 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-48)] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import sys
>>> print sys.maxunicode
65535

If it comes back with 65535, it is build with "--enable-unicode=ucs2" and if 1114111 then it is built with "--enable-unicode=ucs4".
