Hi!

I used to run openoffice in headless mode on web175, and now migrating to the new server. The problem is that the new one consumes 20mb more ram (80mb in total) after first conversion. Probably because of the version update (openoffice 3.1 -> 3.2)

I have read this about memory settings: http://www.addictivetips.com/ubuntu-linux-tips/speed-up-openoffice-with-simple-memory-tweak/ and I need to know if I can have these settings using openoffice configuration files in user home directory.

Any tips on headless openoffice memory optimizations are welcome.

A good place for the question would be open office's official forums. Those settings appear to be for video memory, as opposed to system memory and may not function how you would expect. However I may be wrong, we do not actively develop with open office. The URL for those forums may be found here,

I noticed you also have it posted on stackoverflow which is also a good place.

I have got an interesting point there, that 64bit java consumes more ram. Is it possible to install openoffice with 32bit java runtime?

Some 64-bit libraries do occupy more memory than their 32-bit counterparts. If you wanted to try another build you could download the source code of the libraries and build them.
