Hi, I received an email (not from WebFaction) stating my WP site has been hacked/hijacked by an online pharmacy selling tramadol and massive spam is being pushed out from the site. A Google search for the site shows the correct website name, but the 2-line summary says, "Trusted Online Pharmacy Since 2001. USA Overnight Delivery. Worldwide Shipping. [BKEYWORD]. Order Tramadol Online. Best Buy..." My WP dashboard shows I am running the latest version, 3.2.1, however records in my WebFaction account indicate an earlier, insecure version. Any recommendations for resolving this issue? Thanks. asked 23 Nov '11, 21:02 pt1205 |
The control panel will not change the version it displays on the installer when you upgrade. The current WordPress version should be from WordPress itself. Hacks exist that can compromise even a fully patched WordPress install, things that attack a theme or code bundled with a lot of themes (like TimThumb) or 0-day hacks on WP itself. If you would like us to take a look for hacks or would like further assistance please file a support ticket. answered 23 Nov '11, 21:13 johns |
