MongoDB seems to be shutting down uncleanly, I have a cronjob to re-run mongodb, but that just results in a failed start because of the lock file.

Should I have another cronjob to run the repair? Or is there a shell script that could remedy this?

Thank you.

Hi,

The best approach would be to find out why MongoDB shuts down uncleanly and fix the problem. You can open a support ticket if you would like some help with figuring this out.

Alternatively you could make a shell script that would clear the lock and then start MongoDB.

Thanks. I set MongoDB to log to a file instead of STDOUT (with the --logpath /path/to/log flag) We'll see if that turns anything up.
