Hi, I was checking the documentation to password protect a web folder and found that we need to add on our own in .htaccess also the following:

// Hide files starting with a dot (.htaccess and .htpasswd in particular)
<Files .*>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>

Why do we need it? Are not they hidden by default configuration of the Apache web server?
Thanks and regards
Roberto

Hi,

You are correct - .htaccess and .htpasswd are protected by default in our shared Apache configuration. The information in our docs is a bit old - thanks for pointing it out! We will be updating them.
